Shabir Randeree, CBE

Shabir is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and Chairman of DCD Group with a background in Finance, Commercial Real Estate, Venture Capital and Banking. He was the interim Chairman, Deputy of Al Baraka Bank South Africa for two decades, the Ex Chairman of EIIB Bank plc and Founder Director at Islamic Bank plc.

In the voluntary sector, as well as chairing The King’s Trust International,  Shabir is a Trustee of Windsor Leadership.

His recent roles include Chair of the Woolf Institute Cambridge, Chancellor of the University of East London (2016-2023) and Chair of Governors of the Westminster Academy (2012-22). Shabir also served on the Government’s Asia Task Force, Islamic Finance and Ethnic Minority Business Task Force.

In 2013, Shabir was awarded a CBE in recognition of his services to business, education and philanthropy.

He graduated from Kingston University and has an MBA from Schiller. He is also an alumni of London Business School and Centenary Fellow of St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. Shabir was awarded Honorary Doctorates at Kingston University and the University of Warwick. Shabir is South African by birth and lives in London.

Shabir was appointed as Chairman of The King’s Trust International Board in December 2021.
