Enterprise Challenge Pakistan

The Enterprise Challenge is an inter-school competition which encourages a spirit of entrepreneurship, with young people working in teams with the support of mentors to compete to become our Enterprise Challenge Grand Finalists. The Enterprise Challenge is open to secondary school students aged 13-16.

The Enterprise Challenge Pakistan (ECP) is an initiative of Prince’s Trust International in partnership with SEED Ventures. Through a business simulation game, one-on-one mentorship, coaching and peer support networks, the challenge is designed to give students a better understanding of business models for greater impact and success. Over the last 3 years has expanded the program to 30 cities across Pakistan, reaching over 100 schools.

The overarching aim of the programme is for young people to have a positive impact on their community and society and to be able to choose the right path for their future. By taking part, young people will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop their confidence and aspirations for what they can achieve
  • Increase their understanding of the world of entrepreneurship
  • See their ability to have a positive impact on their wider community
  • Build their enterprise skills including; Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Creative Thinking, Resilience, Decision Making.

The program aims to provide direct contribution to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan by creating an all-inclusive platform for young people from varying socio-economic backgrounds. The challenge is conceived as a tool to introduce entrepreneurship as a viable career choice, providing students with a basic understanding of business management and team-based collaboration, combined with an overarching focus on high levels of social impact.

Delivered flexibly by business mentors recruited and trained to volunteer in schools, it enables student teams to learn about core business concepts through engaging content and activities, including the creation and pitching of sustainable business ideas.

Specifically designed for the programme, the Challenge also uses a virtual game called ‘Pop-Up’ to introduce students to realistic and relatable business scenarios; providing a challenging and interactive opportunity for students whilst also providing a useful tool for mentors to demonstrate and explain how key business elements, such as product selection, budget management, risk and ethical business practices, work together.

Every year, ECP touches the lives of thousands of young people. With the education system in Pakistan focusing on gaining conceptual knowledge rather than hard vocational skills which ensure employability, the Challenge is a leading concept which up-skills young people early in their educational journey. It allows skills to be transferred to real life scenarios and enables young people to make a more informed choice of whether or not to pursue the path of entrepreneurship.
